The Secret to a Happy Life: 9 Ways to Show Gratitude
What are you grateful for? No, it’s not Thanksgiving yet, but you don’t have to be gorging on turkey to think of all the things that you are thankful and grateful for. MindBodyGreen recently posted an article about 25 Ways to Practice Gratitude, which lists simple activities that can help you become more grateful. The tera’swhey team is here to help break down this list even further so you are ready to live a long, happy, and grateful life.
Send a thank you card
Sending a thank you card is one of the easiest and most rewarding things you can do to make someone else (and yourself) feel good. Send one after an interview, or to your babysitter to thank her for all of her hard work. The recipient will appreciate that you took the time to handwrite a thank you note and you will feel good that you made someone else’s day a little brighter.
Humane Society’s all over the country are always looking for volunteers to help out with the rescued animals at their shelter. Who can say no to puppies and kitties?
Accept compliments graciously
This may seem like a hard thing to do- sometimes accepting compliments is not everyone’s forte- but take those compliments in stride! No matter the compliment or who gave it, your confidence is going to get a boost.
Give a generous tip for outstanding service
Every once in a while, tip your waiter 30% of the bill. Imagine their reaction when they look at the check.
Give a gift, send a gift, hand-make a gift
Randomly send a care package to a long distance friend or to a family member that you haven’t seen in a while. They will be so surprised and you will feel warm and fuzzy inside when they call you to sing you praise.
Write a positive public review
Most of the time, people only write reviews if they are displeased with the service or product. It’s time for a change! Write a positive review of a great cashier that you encountered or a waiter that gave exceptional customer service. This way you can contribute to the community in a positive way and express your gratitude.
Call your parents (remember, they gave you life)
It’s always a good idea to call your parents and thank them for everything that they do. Grandparents too!
Pick up the bill when you’re out with people you care about
Your friends might fight you for the bill, but emphasize that you are treating and there is nothing they can change your mind…except maybe a piece of cake.
Honor the success of others as you do your own success
This will not only make the recipient feel good, but you will value yourself more for doing such a selfless act.
Showing your gratitude will not only help you feel better in the short-term, it will boost your confidence and make your days filled with positive vibes. Keep up the gratuity and good things will come your way.
