5 Simple Ways to Ditch Stress

Stress is an inevitable, unwelcome guest, often visiting at the busiest times. Although we can’t control why and when we become overwhelmed, we DO have the power to control how we manage and respond to daily stress. Ditch stress anytime, anywhere with these simple tricks:

  1. Get stepping

Sometimes controlling your stress level is as easy as removing yourself from the situation or environment. Next time you begin to feel anxious or overwhelmed, take a short 5-10 minute walk. You will be able to clear your mind and refocus.

  1. Open the window or get outside

Fresh air and a little sunshine works wonders. This will help you relax and take your mind off of whatever is stressing you.

  1. Laugh

Thinking about something that makes you laugh or watching a funny video so you can crack a smile will help reduce stress hormones. You might even be able to approach your stressor with a new, more positive attitude.

  1. Write it out

Whether you make a list to help stay organized or draft a journal entry to help you release your emotions, writing is powerful tool to keep your stress in check. Figure out whether to-do lists or journaling calms your stress by trying both at least once.

  1. Think happy thoughts

As often as you hear it, sometimes you just need to be reminded ONE more time. No matter what your stress is concerning, take a moment and think about aspects of your life that make you happy—you might just realize that there’s much to be thankful for and less to stress over.
