Staying healthy over the holidays.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year … except if you are trying to be healthy and active.  From holiday appetizers to endless cookie trays, the holidays are a perfect time to push aside your workouts, and delay mindful eating until the New Year.

How do you maneuver the holidays while staying on track with your health and fitness goals?  The tera’swhey® team is here to help you out!  We suggest incorporating little changes into your daily routine.  Every bit helps.

Shopping ‘til you drop –  Park your car further away from the entrance of the mall or grocery store to boost your daily step count.  Power walk through your shopping trips  – you may get strange looks but why not!  Or, treat yourself early with a FitBit to help you stay on track this holiday season.

Decorations Aglow – Hanging outdoor lights can burn almost 200 calories an hour – so lighten up and brighten your home!

Cleaning Spree – Shoveling snow can burn almost 400 calories an hour!  An hour of cleaning – almost 300 calories – so vacuum, dust and wash your way to fitness.

Party on – When heading to a holiday party, try walking instead of driving, you can stand instead of sitting.  Snack wisely beforehand and drink a tera’swhey® protein shake to fill-up on the good stuff and prevent overeating.

Drink up – Be sure to stay hydrated during the holidays and make drinking water a regular part of your routine.  Staying hydrated is crucial for health and wellness and just might help you avoid packing on the holiday pounds.

Too much holiday cheer? Replace just one dish with a healthy alternative.  Love those pumpkin spice lattes?  An average cup can be almost 300 calories!  Try a lightened up version with whey protein and almond milk, found here.

Frost bite – Too cold to run outside?  Try heated yoga!  It’s warm and a great way to center yourself and find calmness during the hectic season.  New to hot yoga?  Check out this guide to surviving your first class.

The holidays are a time to relax, spend time with family, and enjoy the cheerful festivities – so don’t fret over a missed workout, or an extra cookie.  Enjoy the merriment, and be well, be vibrant.
